Key result
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Remarks on result:
other: the sample melted and ignited with a medium size, localise, orange flame, no propagation was observed.

In Preliminary Test, The sample melted and ignited with a medium size, localise, orange flame, no propagation was observed. From the preliminary screening (S/T) test the sample was seen to briefly and no further testing is required.

Interpretation of results:
not classified based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
The test item is considered not highly flammable.
Executive summary:

The preliminary screening test was performed for the determination of the flammability of test item according to EC A10.

The sample melted and ignited with a medium size, localise, orange flame, no propagation was observed. From the preliminary screening (S/T) test the sample was seen to briefly and no further testing is required. The test item is considered not highly flammable.

Endpoint:
pyrophoric solids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the organic substance does not contain metals or metalloids and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied

Description of key information

Flammability:

The sample melted and ignited with a medium size, localise, orange flame, no propagation was observed. The test item is considered not highly flammable.

Pyrophoric solids:

The study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied.

Flammability in contact with water:

The study does not need to be conducted because the organic substance does not contain metals or metalloids and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

Flammability:

The sample melted and ignited with a medium size, localise, orange flame, no propagation was observed. The test item is considered not highly flammable.

Pyrophoric solids:

In accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 section 2.10.4.1, the classification procedure for pyrophoric solids need not be applied when experience in manufacture or handling shows that the substance or mixture does not ignite spontaneously on coming into contact with air at normal temperatures (i.e. the substance is known to be stable at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days)). As experience show this substance does not ignite spontaneously on coming into contact with air at normal temperature, so the classification procedure for pyrophoric solids need not be applied for this substance.

Substances and mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases:

In accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 section 2.12.4.1(a), the classification procedure for this class need not be applied if the chemical structure of the substance or mixture does not contain metals or metalloids. As no metals or metalloids present in the molecule of this substance, so the classification procedure for this class need not be applied for this substance.
