PBT assessment: overall result

Reference
Name:
2,2-bis[[(2-hexyl-1-oxodecyl)oxy]methyl]-1,3-propanediyl bis(2-hexyldecanoate)
Type of composition:
boundary composition of the substance
State / form:
liquid
Reference substance:
2,2-bis[[(2-hexyl-1-oxodecyl)oxy]methyl]-1,3-propanediyl bis(2-hexyldecanoate)
PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

This PBT assessment of the registered substance is based on experimental data, calculated values and available Read-across information summarized as follows:

Persistence

Considering all the available information on biodegradation for 2,2-bis[[(2-hexyl-1-oxodecyl)oxy]methyl]-1,3-propanediyl bis(2-hexyldecanoate) , the predicted biodegradation potential and the data on the Read-Across substance CAS 68604-44-4, no definite conclusion on the biodegradation potential can be drawn for the registered substance. Due to the low solubility and therefore limited bioavailability, it is highly likely that the available studies underestimate the biodegradation potential. It can therefore be assumed that the registered substance will undergo biodegradation in the environment and hence, can be considered non-P and non-vP.

Bioaccumulation

The calculated BCF (regression-based model) was 35.7 L/kg wet-wt., hence indicating low or no bioaccumulation potential. The calculated BCF value can be considered indicative of low or no bioaccumulation potential. Consequently, the registered substance is not considered to be B or vB.

Toxicity

Based on all the available data, the registered substance does not exhibit aquatic toxicity up the limit of water solubility and furthermore is not classified according to Directive 67/548/EEC and Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.

Conclusion

In conclusion the registered substance does not meet the PBT or vPVB criteria.
