Key result
Water solubility:
ca. 2.4 mg/L
Conc. based on:
test mat. (dissolved fraction)
Incubation duration:
2 h
Temp.:
20 °C
pH:
ca. 6.9

Run 1: Regarding fractions 06 to 15 the solubility varied between 2.309 mg/L and 2.455 mg/L. Average solubility: 2.400 mg/L (RSD: 2.3%)

Table 1 Column elution method, Run 1 (25 mL/h): Test material used for coating: 50.75 mg

Fraction no.  Approx. volume (mL)  pH  Cs (mg/L)
  Fraction 06  12 8.0  2.451
  Fraction 07  13  7.5  2.454
  Fraction 08  15  7.1  2.455
  Fraction 09  15  6.9  2.429
  Fraction 10  15  6.9  2.404
  Fraction 11  15  7.4  2.359
  Fraction 12  14  6.9  2.446
  Fraction 13  14  6.9  2.350
  Fraction 14  15  6.9  2.309
  Fraction 15 15  6.7  2.340

The concentrations of the fractions 06 to 15 were considered to form a plateau. The determined mass concentrations of these fractions were within a range of ± 30 % from the mean value. Therefore these fractions were used for the calculation of the solubility in double distilled water.

Run 2: Regarding fractions 06 to 15 the solubility varied between 2.473 mg/L and 2.515 mg/L. Average solubility: 2.491 mg/L (RSD: 0.5%)

Table 2 Column elution method, Run 2 (12.5 mL/h); Test material used for coating: 51.17 mg

Fraction no.  Approx. volume (mL)  pH  Cs (mg/L)
  Fraction 06  13  7.2  2.485
  Fraction 07  13  7.0  2.485
  Fraction 08  13  6.8  2.484
  Fraction 09  12  6.7  2.486
  Fraction 10  13  6.7  2.510
  Fraction 11  13  6.6  2.515
  Fraction 12  13  6.4  2.488
  Fraction 13  13  6.3  2.492
  Fraction 14  13  6.5  2.488
  Fraction 15 13  6.6  2.473

The concentrations of the fractions 06 to 15 were considered to form a plateau. The determined mass concentrations of these fractions were within a range of ± 30 % from the mean value. Therefore these fractions were used for the calculation of the solubility in double distilled water.

At the end of each column elution experiment (RUN 1 and RUN 2), there was still enough test item left on the surface of the glass beads at the end of all runs. There were no visible change in the coating during the runs.

Conclusions:
The water solubility of test item was found to be 2.4 mg/L at pH 6.9 and a temperature of 20 °C.
Executive summary:

The water solubility of the test item was determined in distilled water according to the "column elution method" described in the European Commission Council regulation (EC) No 440/2008, Annex, Part A, A.6., OECD-guideline 105 and the EPA Product Properties Test Guideline OCSPP 830.7840 and found to be 2.4 mg/L at pH 6.9 and a temperature of 20 °C.
