Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

First aid general principles - Important information
In case of doubt or in the presence of symptoms contact a physician, and show him/her the material safety data sheet. In case of severe symptoms, call your local health care emergency number. Call a poison control center in order to receive toxicological advice for the clinical management of poisoning. Do not administer anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

First aid general principles - Inhalation
In the case of respiratory symptoms (cough, dyspnea) move the person to fresh air, place in a semi-seated position, and administer oxygen. Provide artificial respiration if the person is not breathing.

First aid general principles - Skin contact
Flush the skin with copious amounts of water (and soap, if possible) for at least 15 minutes. Consult a physician if there are symptoms of skin irritation and/or pain.

First aid general principles - Eye contact
Remove contact lenses. Flush the eyes, kept open, with copious amounts of running water for at least 15 minutes. Consult a physician, especially if there are symptoms of eye irritation and/or pain.

First aid general principles – Ingestion
Do not administer anything by mouth unless advised to do so by a poison control center. Do not induce emesis. Rinse the mouth and consult a physician.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media and procedure: Dry chemical or carbon dioxide for small fires, water spray or foam for large fires.
Use water spray to keep fire-exposed containers cool. Approach fire from upwind to avoid hazardous vapours and toxic decomposition products. Fight fire from protected location or maximum possible distance. Avoid heavy hose streams. Dike area to prevent water runoff. Firemen should wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective clothing.

Hazardous decomposition products in a fire
The essential breakdown products are carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide.

Accidental release measures

Personal protection: Observe all protection and safety precautions when cleaning up spills. Depending on the magnitude of the spill this may mean wearing respirator, face mask or safety glasses, chemical resistant clothing, gloves and boots. See Personal protection.

Steps to be taken in case of spill: Empty, closable vessels for the collection of spills should be available.
Stop the source of the spill immediately if safe to do so. Contain the spill to prevent any further contamination of surface, soil or water.
Remove sources of ignition.

Cleaning method: Spills should be absorbed onto an absorptive material such as hydrated lime, universal binder, Fuller’s earth, bentonite or other absorbent clays. Collect the spilled material and the contaminated absorbent in suitable containers. Rinse area with much water. Wash waters must be prevented from entering surface water drains.
Uncontrolled discharge into water courses must be alerted to the appropriate regulatory body.

Disposal: The used containers should be properly closed and labelled. Refer to disposal consideration.

Handling and storage

Precautions to be taken in handling: For personal protection, see section exposure controls / personal protection.

Precautions to be taken in storing: Protect against extremes of cold and heat.
Store in closed, labelled containers. The storage room should be constructed of incombustible material, closed, dry, ventilated and with impermeable floor, without access of unauthorised persons or children. The room should only be used for storage of chemicals. Food, drink, feed and seed must be kept away. A hand wash station should be available.

Specific use: The product is meant for use as chemical intermediate for industrial purposes.

Exposure controls / personal protection

According to the Company internal procedures, the substance is used under strictly controlled condition (SCC) during its whole lifecycle:

(a) the substance is rigorously controlled from its arrival to its use and transformation:

(b) procedural (Standard Operating Procedures for use) and control technologies are used to minimize emission and any resulting exposure;

(c) the substance is handled only by trained and authorized personnel;

(d) in the case of cleaning and maintenance works, special procedures such as equipment washing are applied before the system is opened and entered;

(e) in cases of accident and where waste is generated, there is an Emergency Plan to minimize emissions and the resulting exposure;

(f) substance-handling procedures are well documented and strictly supervised by the site operator.

A periodic environmental monitoring confirms the efficacy of the above practices.

Details about SCC, exposure controls and personal protection are given in the "RMM_details" document which is attached in section 13 of the Registration Dossier.

Stability and reactivity

Thermal decomposition: Stable at ambient temperature.

Hazardous decomposition products: see fire-fighting measures

Disposal considerations

Waste disposal method: Material that cannot be reused or chemically reprocessed can be disposed of by removal to a licensed chemical destruction plant or by controlled incineration with flue gas scrubbing.
Do not contaminate food or water by storage or disposal.

Container disposal: Triple rinse container (or equivalent) and offer for recycling or reconditioning. The packaging can also be punctured to make it unusable for other purposes and then be disposed of in a sanitary landfill. Controlled incineration with flue gas scrubbing is possible for combustible packaging materials.

Disposal of waste and packagings must always be in accordance with all applicable local regulations.
