- Executive summary:
The density of test item tall oil, maleated was determined using the Pycnometer (modified) method of OECD Test No. 109.
The test item is a dark viscous liquid at room temperature. In order to transfer it to the pycnometer, the material was warmed slightly until it could be carefully poured into the pycnometer. Exactly 4 mL was transferred into the cylinder (pre-tared). The material was tapped to remove any entrained air and allowed to cool. The cylinder plus contents were weighed. The process was repeated with a second replicate
sample.
The temperature at which the test was conducted was noted. The weight was measured with at least 0.1% accuracy. The experiment was conducted in duplicate.
The bulk density was calculated in g/mL, and reported as kg/m³.
The density was determined to be 1073.0 kg/m³ as per the Pycnometer (modified) method of OECD Test No. 109.
