Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
Remove soiled or soaked clothing immediately. If someone exposed to the product feels unwell, contact a doctor and show this safety data sheet.
Adhere to personal protective measures when giving first aid.
If inhaled: Remove the casualty into fresh air and keep him calm. Take medical treatment.
In case of skin contact: Wash off immediately with soap and water. Summon a doctor immediately.
In case of eye contact: Rinse immediately with gently running water for 15 minutes, maintaining eyelids open. Consult at once an ophthalmologist or a physician.
If swallowed : Do not induce vomiting. Call in a physician immediately and show him the Safety Data Sheet. Let plenty of water be drunk in small gulps.
Do not give water to unconcious person.
Fire-fighting measures
Suitable extinguishing media: Foam, Dry powder, Carbon dioxide (CO2)
Unsuitable extinguishing media: water
Specific hazards during fire-fighting: In case of fires, hazardous combustion gases are formed. Hydrogen chloride (HCl), Carbon monoxide (CO)
If in contact with water significant amounts of Hydrogen chlorid gas are formed. Use water spray jet to absorb the toxic gas.
Special protective equipment for firefighters: Use self-contained breathing apparatus. Use suitable protection clothes.
Further information: Fire residues and contaminated firefighting water must be disposed of in accordance with the local regulations.
Accidental release measures
Wear personal protective equipment. Unprotected persons must be kept away.
Environmental precautions : Do not allow entry to drains, water courses or soil.
Methods for cleaning up: Pick up with liquid binding materials and if necessary fill in containers capable of being locked.
Containers in which spilt substance has been collected must be adequately labelled. Dispose of absorbed material in accordance with the local regulations. Clean contaminated floors and objects thoroughly, observing environmental regulations.
Handling and storage
Use product only in closed system. Ensure that eye flushing systems and safety showers are located close to the working place.
Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Avoid contact of the substance.
Advice on protection against fire and explosion: Normal measures for preventive fire protection.
Hygiene measures: When using do not eat, drink or smoke. Contaminated work clothing should not be allowed out of the workplace.
Follow the skin protection plan. Wash hands and face before breaks and immediately after handling the product.
Requirements for storage: Store in original container. Keep container tightly closed. Do not allow contact with air. Store at a cool and well ventilated place. Keep away from food, drink and animal feedingstuffs.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Engineering measures: Provide sufficient air exchange and/or exhaust in work rooms.
Do not breathe gas/fumes/vapour/spray. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
Eye protection: Depending on the risk, wear sufficient eye protection (safety glasses with side protection or goggles, and if necessary, face shield.)
Hand protection: Choose gloves to protect hands against chemicals depending on the concentration and quantity of the hazardous sub-stance and specific to place of work. The selected protective gloves have to satisfy the specifica-tions of EU Directive 89/686/EEC and the standard EN 374 derived from it. Take note of the information given by the producer concern-ing permeability and break through times, and of special workplace conditions (mechanical strain, duration of contact). Follow the instructions for use issued by the producer.
Suitable:
Long-term exposure - butyl-rubber
Gloves must be inspected prior to use. Gloves should be discarded and replaced if there is any indication of degradation or chemical breakthrough.
Gloves must be rinsed thoroughly after use.
Skin and body protection: Choose body protection in relation to its type, to the concen-tration and amount of dangerous substances, and to the specific workplace.
Respiratory protection: Use respirator when performing operations involving potential exposure to vapour of the product. Recommended Filter type:
ABEK-filter. Short term only
Stability and reactivity
Reactivity: No dangerous reaction known under conditions of normal use. Product evolves hydrogen chloride (HCl) when exposed to water or humid air.
Possibility of very violent reactions with bases and numerous classes of organic of substances such as alcohols and amines.
Chemical stability: No decomposition if stored and applied as directed.
Conditions to avoid: Keep away from heat and sources of ignition. Keep away from water and humidity. Keep away from inorganic bases, amines and alcohols.
Hazardous decomposition products: Hydrogen chloride gas
Disposal considerations
Product:
If recycling is not practicable, dispose of in compliance with local regulations. Dispose of contents/ container to an approved waste disposal plant.
Contaminated packaging:
Packaging that cannot be cleaned should be disposed of as product waste. Empty containers should be taken to an approved waste handling site for recycling or disposal. Dispose of in accordance with local regulations
