Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
General information
Remove contaminated, saturated clothing immediately. Wash thoroughly the body (shower or bath). When in doubt or
if symptoms are observed, get medical advice.
Following inhalation
In case of respiratory tract irritation, consult a physician. Remove casualty to fresh air and keep warm and at rest.
In case of skin contact
Wash immediately with: Water and soap In case of skin reactions, consult a physician.
After eye contact
In case of contact with eyes flush immediately with plenty of flowing water for 10 to 15 minutes holding eyelids apart
and consult an ophthalmologist. Protect uninjured eye.
After ingestion
If accidentally swallowed rinse the mouth with plenty of water (only if the person is conscious) and obtain immediate
medical attention. Do NOT induce vomiting.
Information to physician
Treat symptomatically.
Symptoms
The following symptoms may occur: Vomiting Nausea Dyspnoea seizures
Hazards
Pulmonary irritation Gastric perforation Pulmonary oedema
Fire-fighting measures
Measures to prevent fire
Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking. Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Provide
earthing of containers, equipment, pumps and ventilation facilities. Emergency cooling must be provided for in case
of a fire in the vicinity.
Accidental release measures
Soak up inert absorbent and dispose as waste requiring special attention. Clean contaminated articles and floor
according to the environmental legislation. Suitable material for diluting or neutralizing: Soda Lime
Handling and storage
Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking. Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Provideearthing of containers, equipment, pumps and ventilation facilities. Emergency cooling must be provided for in caseof a fire in the vicinity.
Requirements for storage rooms and vessels
Keep container tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated place. Floors should be impervious, resistant to liquids and easyto clean. Suitable container/equipment material: Stainless steel Polyethylene (PE) Unsuitable container/equipmentmaterial: Iron. Light metal

Exposure controls / personal protection
Eye/face protection
Eye glasses with side protection Face protection shield Additional eye protection measures
In the immediate working surroundings there must be Provide eye shower and label its location conspicuously
Skin protection
Hand protection
Suitable gloves type Butyl caoutchouc (butyl rubber) NBR (Nitrile rubber) DIN EN 374 Breakthrough times and
swelling properties of the material must be taken into consideration.
Respiratory protection
Suitable respiratory protection apparatus
Filter types: A, B, E, K. Class 1: Maximum permitted contaminant concentration in inhaled air = 1000 mL/m3 (0.1 %
by vol.); class 2: maximum permitted contaminant concentration in inhaled air = 5000 mL/m³ (0.5 % by vol.); class
3: maximum permitted contaminant concentration in inhaled air = 10000 mL/m³ (1.0 % by vol.) If technical
exhaust or ventilation measures are not possible or insufficient, respiratory protection must be worn.
General health and safety measures
Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothes. Remove contaminated, saturated clothing immediately. Separate storage of
work clothes.
Occupational exposure controls
Technical measures and the application of suitable work processes have priority over personal protection equipment.
Environmental exposure controls
In case of gas escape or of entry into waterways, soil or drains, inform the responsible authorities. Ensure all wastewater is collected and treated via a waste water treatment plant.
Stability and reactivity
