Test organisms
- Test organisms (species):
- Oncorhynchus mykiss (previous name: Salmo gairdneri)
- Details on test organisms:
- Healthy O. mykiss fingerlings were obtained from Zeals Trout Farm, Zeals, Wiltshire, and acclimated to the test conditions for more than nine days before use. A sample of seven of the fish used in the test had a mean length of 4.6 cm and a mean weight of 0.76 g.
Study design

- semi-static
- Water media type:
- freshwater
- Limit test:

Test conditions
- Hardness:
- 276-292mg/l as CaCO3
- Test temperature:
- 15.4-16.3 C
- pH:
- 7.1-7.6
- Dissolved oxygen:
- 8.6-9.1 mg/l
- Details on test conditions:
- A sealed 96 h semi-static toxicity test was carried out with daily renewal of the test media. The test vessels were glass aspirators which were completely filled (11 liters) with WAF of VERSATIC 1019. Seven O. mykiss were placed in each vessel. The vessels were then sealed with glass plated ensuring that all air was excluded. The fish were not fed during the test.

Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Conclusions:
- The 96 h LL50 of VERSATIC 1019 as determined by a OECD 203 Acute fish toxicity test is between 3 and 10 mg/l.
- Executive summary:
The acute toxicity to O. mykiss of water accommodated fractions of VERSATIC 1019 was determined in a 96 h semi-static toxicity test with daily renewal of the test media. The test was conducted in seled test vessels. The 24, 48, 72 and h LL50 values (loading rates producing WAF resulting in mortality of 50% of the fish after 24, 48, 72 and 96 h exposure) were within the ranges 10 -30, 3 -10, 3 -10 and 3 -10 mg/l respectively.
