Description of key information
Immobilization of Daphnia magna exposed to the test item was investigated during a 48-hour static test according to OECD guideline 202. The EC50 value was determined to be higher than 120 mg/L.

Immobilization of Daphnia magna exposed to the test item was investigated during a 48-hour static test according to OECD guideline 202. The test was performed in glass beakers of 150 mL capacity, containing 100 mL of each treatment per replicate. The test was performed in one test item concentration of 120 mg/L (limit test) plus the control. Eight replicates of the test item concentration and the control with five Daphnia magna per replicate were used. Daphnia magna was observed for immobilization after 24 and 48 h of exposure. The Daphnia magna were considered immobile if they showed no ability to swim within 15 seconds after swirling the test vessel. At exposure termination in the control no immobilization was observed, in the test item concentration of 120 mg/L the immobilization of Daphnia magna was 2.5%. The concentrations of the test item were determined with a validated spectrophotometric method. Samples of the test item concentration of 120 mg/L and the control collected at exposure initiation and at exposure termination were chemically determined. In the sample collected at exposure initiation the determined test item concentration was 93.2% of nominal concentration. Therefore, the results confirm correct preparation of the test item concentration. In the sample collected at exposure termination the determined test item concentration was 91.1% of nominal concentration. Therefore, the test item concentration was stable under test conditions.The endpoint values were determined on the basis of the nominal test item concentration. The EC50 value was determined to be higher than 120 mg/L.
Disregarded study
The acute toxicity of the test item to the water flea Daphnia magna STRAUS was investigated in a 48-hour static test according to EEC Directiye 92/32/EEC (December 1992).The test substance was not tested in a pure quality and was therefore judged to be not reliable. The test item was tested in the range of concentrations between 123 and 100 mg/L.The dilution factor was 2. lnstead of mortality the test criterion of the acute toxicity is immobilization of the daphnids after 48 hours of exposure which is expressed as EC (effect concentration). Those animals were considered to be immobile which were unable to swim within 15 seconds even after gentle agitation of the test vessel. The following values were determined:

EC50 > 100 mg/L
EC100 > 100 mg/L
