Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information
No effects up to the limit of water solubility.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
Additional information
Since no studies investigating the short-term toxicity of Reaction
mass of octadecyl heptanoate and octadecyl octanoate (List No.
915-334-0) to fish are available, in accordance to Regulation (EC) No
1907/2006 Annex XI, 1.5 a read-across to the structurally related source
substance Fatty acids, C8-10, C12-18-alkyl esters (CAS 95912-86-0) was
conducted. The read-across substance is representative to evaluate the
short-term toxicity of Reaction mass of octadecyl heptanoate and
octadecyl octanoate (target substance) to fish.
The
target substance is a multi-constituent substance specified by mainly C7
and C8 linear fatty acids esterified with a linear alcohol of a chain
length of C18. The source substance Fatty acids, C8-10, C12-18-alkyl
esters (CAS 95912-86-0) is an UVCB substance predominantly consisting of
esters with a C8-C10 fatty acid and a C12-C14 alcohol moiety. A detailed
analogue approach justification is provided in the technical dossier
(see IUCLID Section 13). The source substance has a similar structure
and is suitable for read across to the target substance. In this case of
read-across, the best suited (highest degree of structural similarity,
nearest physico-chemical properties) read-across substance was used for
the assessment.
This read-across is justified in detail in the overall summary (IUCLID
Section 6.1) and within the analogue justification in IUCLID Section 13.
The study with the source substance Fatty acids, C8-10, C12-18-alkyl esters was performed according to OECD 203 (GLP) investigating the toxicity to fish (Salinas, 2013). Danio rerio was exposed to a nominal concentration of 100 mg/L for 96 h (Water Accommodated Fraction). No mortality was observed after 96 h of incubation resulting in a LL50 (96 h) > 100 mg/L (nominal) and a NOELR (96 h) ≥ 100 mg/L (nominal).
Based on the available results from structurally related source substances (in accordance to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 Annex XI, 1.5) which are characterized by a comparable structure, it can be concluded that Reaction mass of octadecyl heptanoate and octadecyl octanoate will not exhibit short-term effects to fish up to the limit of water solubility.
