Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
General information: Immediately remove any clothing soiled by the product.
· After inhalation: Supply fresh air; consult doctor in case of complaints.
· After skin contact: Immediately wash with water and soap and rinse thoroughly.
· After eye contact: Rinse opened eye for several minutes under running water. If symptoms persist, consult a doctor.
· After swallowing: Call a doctor immediately.
· Information for doctor:
· The following symptoms may occur: Contact with dust may cause irritation of mucous membranes.
· Hazards and systemic effects: Strong irritating effect after breathing of dust and contact with eyes.
· Possible routes of intake: Intake by swallowing or inhalation of dust.
· Target organs: Skin, eyes, mucous membranes.
· Chronic effects: No chronic effects known.
· Treatment: In cases of irritation to the lungs, initial treatment with Dexametason metered aerosol. No specific antidot. Symptomatic treatment.
Fire-fighting measures
· Suitable extinguishing agents: CO2, powder or water spray. Fight larger fires with water spray or alcohol resistant foam.
· Special hazards caused by the substance, its products of combustion or resulting gases: In case of fire, the following can be released: Carbon monoxide (CO). Formation of explosive dust/air-mixtures is possible.
· Protective equipment: Wear self-contained respiratory protective device.
Accidental release measures
· Person-related safety precautions: Use respiratory protective device against the effects of fumes/dust/ aerosol.
· Measures for environmental protection: Inform respective authorities in case of seepage into water course or sewage system. Do not allow to enter sewers/ surface or ground water.
· Measures for cleaning/ collecting: Pick up mechanically. If formation of dust cannot be avoided use respiratory filter device. Dispose of the material collected according to regulations.
· Additional information: Discharge into waste water channels and biological treatment plants only after clearence with the operating company and in accordance with local Authority approval.
Handling and storage
· Handling
· Information for safe handling: Provide suction extractors if dust is formed. Keep containers tightly sealed. Empty containers must not be used for other products. Contaminated protective equipment should be cleaned before taking it off. Fill only in dedicated and assigned containers. Nitrogen blanketing required for large scale operations with this compound due to low minimum ignition energy.
· Information about fire - and explosion protection: Dust can combine with air to form an explosive mixture.
· Storage
· Requirements to be met by storerooms and receptacles: No special requirements.
· Unsuitable materials: Zinc
· Corrosion of metals: It should generally be borne in mind that there is a possibility of corrosion on contact with this material. Resistance should be checked in each individual case.
· Information about storage in one common storage facility: Store away from oxidizing agents.
· Further information about storage conditions: Keep receptacle tightly sealed.
· Maximum storage temperature: No data available.
· Recommended storage temperature: Currently no data available.
It is therefore recommended not to exceed room temperature (max. 25°C) during storage over a longer period of time.
· Acceptable storage time: No data available.

Exposure controls / personal protection
· Additional information about design of technical facilities: Teke care of sufficient ventilation. Avoid formation of dust.
· Personal protective equipment
· General protective and hygienic measures. Keep away from foodstuffs, beverages and feed. Immediately remove all soiled and contaminated clothing. Wash hands before breaks and at the end of work. Avoid contact with the eyes. Avoid contact with the eyes and skin. Contaminated protective suit shall be cleaned before takeing it off.
· Respiratory protection: Short term filter device: In case of brief exposure or low pollution use respiratory filter device. In case of intensive or longer exposure use self-contained respiratory protective device.
· Protection of hands: Protective gloves. Selection of the glove material on consideration of the penetration times, rates of diffusion and the degradation.
· Eye protection: Safety glasses.
· Body protection: Use dust-proof protective suit.
· Limitation and supervision of exposure into the environment: Avoid spillage of product into the environment. If possible use this material only in closed systems and devices. In case of open plant systems (sampling devices, filling and discharging, cleansing works etc.) use local exhaust and collecting trays. Follow emission limit values. Measures in case of unwanted emissions should be established.
· Risk management measures: General protective and hygienic measures have to be observed. Handling and use of this material/formulation only under controlled conditions in closed systems. Employees who use this material/formulation must be trained and demonstrably instructed about possible risks for man and environment. Measures for prevention of hazards in case of unwanted leakage (LOPC) shall be implemented.
Stability and reactivity
· Thermal decomposition / conditions to be avoided:
· Sensitive to: Air: Risk of dust explosions.
· Materials to be avoided: Strong oxidizing agents.
· Dangerous reactions: Formation of explosive dust/air mixtures is possible.
· Dangerous decomposition products: Carbon monoxide
Disposal considerations
· European waste catalogue: 07 01 99 (wastes not otherwise specified)
· Uncleaned packaging:
· Recommendation: Packagings that may not be cleansed are to be disposed of in the same manner as the product.
· Biological waste water treatment: Discharge into waste water channels and biological treatment plants only after clearence with the operating company and in accordance with local Authority approval.
