The melting point of diphenyl ether (26.87 °C) is slightly above typical ambient temperature. The substance is easily melted to a liquid state, and is produced and used only in this liquid form. The solid crystaline form which may sometimes occur during storage or transport is again melted,and never handled in a solid or particulate form.
