Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The relative density is 1.08 at 25 deg. Celsius as per method ASTM D 891.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Relative density at 20C:
1.08

Additional information

The key value was determined by using a pycnometer method according to ASTM D 891.

This substance is hydrolytically unstable (half-life < 10 minutes; OECD 111). When it comes in contact with water or moisture a complete hydrolysis will take place with no significant reaction products other than 2 -methylpropanol and ethyl acetoacetate and insoluble hydrated titanium oxides. Because of rapid hydrolysis, the CSA concentrates on the most hazardous degradation product which is 2 -methylpropanol. Read-across data on the density of 2-methylpropanol; 0.801 at 20 deg.Celsius released from the substance is used as a key value in exposure assessment when relevant (see section 9 & 10 of CSR).
