First-aid measures

General advice:

Move out of dangerous area. Call a physician immediately. Show this safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance. Do not leave the victim unattended.

Protection of first-aiders:

No action shall be taken involving any personal risk or without suitable training.

If it is suspected that fumes are still present, the rescuer should wear an appropriate mask or self-contained breathing apparatus.

If inhaled:

Move the victim to fresh air.

Call a physician immediately.

Keep patient warm and at rest.

Cortisone spray should be inhaled immediately after inhalation of the substance to prevent toxic pulmonary oedema.

If breathing is irregular or stopped, administer artificial respiration.

Oxygen may be given by qualified personnel if breathing is difficult or cyanosis (blue discoloration of skin) is noted.

If unconscious, place in recovery position and seek medical advice.

Maintain open airway.

In case of skin contact:

Call a physician immediately.

Take off contaminated clothing and shoes immediately.

Wash the skin immediately with plenty of soap and water; cleaning immediately with polyethylene glycol 400 and washing subsequently with plenty of soap and water would be more effective.

Carefully clean hair, under the nails, and other hidden areas.

In case of blueness of lips, skin or nails (cyanosis) let the per-son breathe oxygen.

Do NOT use solvents or thinners.

In case of eye contact:

Irrigate copiously with clean, fresh water for at least 10 minutes, holding the eyelids apart.

Remove contact lenses.

Protect unharmed eye.

If eye irritation persists, consult a specialist.

If swallowed:

Call a physician immediately.

Do NOT induce vomiting.

Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

Rinse mouth, ingest activated charcoal.

If vomiting occurs, the head should be kept low so that vomit does not enter the lungs.

5.3 Advice for firefighters

Special protective equipment for firefighters:

Wear self-contained breathing apparatus for firefighting if necessary.

Further information:

Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately. This must not be discharged into drains.

Fire residues and contaminated fire extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.
