Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Phenol 2,6 -bis(1 -methylpropyl) was evaluated for its acute aquatic toxicity. The LC50 at 96 hours exposure was determined to be >0.10 mg/, concluding that the test substance is toxic to fish upon short-term exposure.

Test method:

The test method followed the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals No. 203 "Fish, Acute Toxicity Test. Deviations are in the number of fish per concentration and in the absent analytical confirmation of nominal concentrations (this is not expected to compromise the quality of the study results).

The screening 96 h acute toxicity study was conducted with rainbow trout at nominal test concentrations of 0.10, 1.0 and 10 mg/l. The number of fish was 2 per test concentration in a preliminary study. In the final study, the number of fish was 10 in two replicates at 0.10 mg/l. In parallel a control and a solvent control group were tested. Mortality ocurred in the range finding study at 1.0 mg/l (2/2) and 10 mg/l (2/2).
