Additional information

A water solubility value of 212 mg/l is reported in a study conducted according to an abbreviated test protocol similar to the preliminary test defined in OECD 105. The value obtained is considered reliable as an estimate of the solubility of the substance and is selected as key study.

In the same report, a second water solubility value of 86 mg/l was determined for the test substance according to OECD 105. However, the test substance is hydrolytically unstable over the time-scale of this test and a non-specific analysis method was used. Therefore, it is not possible to reliably interpret the results and this value is disregarded.

A predicted water solubility of 150 mg/l has been obtained using an appropriate QSAR method. This value supports the key study.

The water solubility of the silanol hydrolysis product has been calculated using a validated QSAR. The silanol is predicted to be miscible with water; however, silanetriols may undergo condensation reactions to give siloxane dimers, oligomers and polymers; this will limit its solubility in practice.
