Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

This endpoint is filled by a Biodegradation test of RAV7NG by microorganisms conducted in 2004. The average DOC of the test material was 42%. The average BOD on days 7, 14, 21 and 28 was 5.97, 12.53, 18.03 and 25.93 oxygen/mg. The biodegradability of the test material on day 28 was 43-47%. The BOD of the positive control material (aniline) on days 7, 14, 21 and 28 was 61.4, 69.5, 72.4 and 74.3. The percentage biodegradation (43-47%) of BOD and the percentage residue (12-19%) of the test item show that a part of test item was biodegraded by microorganisms.

Additionally data from two adequate ready biodegradability closed bottle tests (van Cinkel, 1993; RBM lnstituto di Ricerche Biomediche, 1994) for diallyl 2,2'oxydiethyl dicarbonate, as the main ingredient in RAV 7NG were conducted.

Results of these two OECD guideline studies (OECD 301D) indicate that 'diallyl 2,2'-oxydiethyl dicarbonate' is readily biodegradable. The biodegradability of the test material on day 28 was 86% and 73.2%, respectively.

Justification for read-across from supporting substance RAV 7AT (diallyl 2,2'-oxydiethyl dicarbonate; CAS 142-22-3; EC 205-528-7): about 70 % of RAV 7NG (EC 700-483-4) consists of components that can be found in the commercial ADC grades known as RAV 7AT, Nouryset 200 and CR39. Merely from comparing the similar production processes of these two substances it is apparent that RAV 7AT and RAV 7NG are closely related to each other.  Finally, the physical-chemical, toxicological and ecotoxicological properties of RAV 7NG and RAV 7AT are almost equal and as a result, read across is justified.
