Description of key information

In a GLP compliant hydrolysis study performed according to OECD TG 111, hydrolysis of the substance was tested at varying temperatures and as a function of pH. In a preliminary test hydrolysis was measured at 50°C at pH 4, 7 and 9. Residual substance was determined by a gas chromatographic method with flame ionisation detection. In the preliminary test at pH4 a degree of hydrolysis of <10% was observed after 5 days. It demonstrated that the half-life time of the substance at 25°C is > 1 year and no further testing was required. At pH7 and pH9 a degree of hydrolysis of ≥10% was observed and consequently higher Tier testing was performed. In the main test hydrolysis at pH7 was tested at 20, 50 and 60°C, at pH9 testing temperatures were 20, 40 and 50°C. For testing of pseudo-first order kinetics at Ph7 and pH9, the mean logarithms of the relative concentrations between 10% and 90% were plotted against time. In all cases linear relationships were obtained. From the hydrolysis data at different pH and temperatures the rate constants and half-life times at 25°C were calculated using the Arrhenius equation. The hydrolysis half-times of the substance at 25°C are >1 year at pH4, 22 days at pH7 and 10 hours at pH9.
