Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Inhalation: Seek medical attention.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Wash with water.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with water.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention.
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: Combustion products may contain carbon, nitrogen and
sulphur oxides, hydrogen fluoride and soot. Water is a
suitable extinguishing agent.
Accidental release measures
Handling and storage
Handling: Avoid contact with eyes; if in contact with eyes, rinse
immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice.
Avoid contact with bare skin. Wear suitable gloves and
eye/face protection while opening containers or emptying
containers. Small residual amounts may be flushed to sewer
with water.
Storage: Store in a dry area, free from excess humidity. Material is
stable on storage, even on contact with water.

Stability and reactivity
Danger other than fire: The material does not react with water, but forms acid
solutions that can readily be neutralised with dilute
alkali.
Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery of spilt material is possible. However, the degree
of contamination will determine whether reuse after
purifying is possible.
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Acidic solutions may be neutralised by alkali. The material
is non-toxic and non-corrosive.
Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Gram quantities may be disposed of in this manner.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Recommended disposal method. However, stack gas
purification is required.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Small quantities may be disposed of in this manner.
Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will not enter the public domain.
