Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets
Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove patient from exposure. Obtain medical attention if
ill effects occur.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Remove particles by irrigating with eye wash solution or
clean water, holding the eyelids apart. Obtain medical
attention.
Emergency measure - Skin: Remove contaminated clothing. Wash skin with water. If
symptoms (irritation or blistering) occur obtain medical
attention.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Wash out mouth with water. Obtain
medical attention if ill effects occur.
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: Extinguish with dry chemical or foam.
Product arising from burning: Carbon dioxide, Carbon monoxide, oxides of Phosphorus.
Product determined by test: N
Protective equipment: A self contained breathing apparatus and suitable protective
clothing should be worn in fire conditions.
Accidental release measures
Emergency measures in case of spillage: Avoid release to the environment. Spillages of Alpha Ligand
will be easily detected because of the pungent
characteristic smell. Collect using a high efficiency vacuum
cleaner. Transfer to a container for disposal or recovery.
Spillages or uncontrolled discharges into watercourses must
be alerted to the appropriate regulatory body.
Material is suitable for recovery. Spent catalyst or waste
material to be returned to manufacturer for
recovery/recycling.
Handling and storage
Handling: Alpha Ligand is an air and moisture sensitive material. It
will arrive on-site in specially designed, air-tight
packaging, which is designed so that it can be transferred
to a process vessel with no exposure to air. It should not
be transferred to another container prior to use.
Storage: Keep only in the original container. Keep container tightly
closed and dry. Store under Nitrogen. Material will be
present on manufacturing sites in relatively small
quantities i.e. less than 500 Kg at any given time. Storage
temperature 0-40 deg C.
Packaging of the substance and or preparation: 60L Stainless Steel pressure vessel (UN Tariff No. BOE-6000)

Stability and reactivity
Danger other than fire: None known.
Chemical reaction with water: The substance will react with any dissolved oxygen in water.
Dust explosion: Unlikely to pose dust explosion hazard.
Dust explosion determined by test: N
Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The used material will be returned to the manufacturer for
recycling.
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: None known. The substance reacts with oxygen to form
phosphine oxides however the toxicity of the oxides should
be regarded as comparable to the toxicity of the substance
itself.
Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Disposal by incineration with waste gas treatment is possibl
e.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended.
Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will not enter the public domain.
