Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The test substance is with high probability not acutely harmful to aquatic algae. No toxic effects occur at the range of solubility.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A test on the acute toxicity to aquatic algae of the actual test item is not available. However, data on a structural analogue (CAS 91081-53-7) are availble. The structutal analogue (Rosin, reaction products with formaldehyde) is the acid of the calcium salt . For read-across justification see Annex.

A GLP guideline study according to OECD 201 using Desmodesmus subspicatus and CAS 91081-53-7 was conducted . Due to the low solubility of the test item in the test medium, a water accomodated fraction was prepared. Based on the findings of a range-finding test it was decided to test only one concentration of 100 mg/L loading rate WAF. After 72 h no acute toxic effects could be observed in the test concentration. The NOEC after 72 h (growth rate and yield) was calculated to be at least 100 mg/L loading rate (WAF) and the EL50 after 72 h (growth rate and yield) was calculated to be above 100 mg/L loading rate (WAF). Therefore, the test substance is with high probability not acutely harmful to aquatic algae.
