Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

melting point higher than 400°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
-10.4 °C

Additional information

GLP experimental studies, according to EU Method A.1 and scored as Klimisch 1, are selected as a key studies, giving a melting point higher than 400°C (for the powder form) and a freezing point at -10.4 °C (for the liquid form).

Melting point

The determination of the melting point was performed by visual judgement using the capillary method. In two preliminary tests up to 400 °C the test item changed the colour from brown to black. During the whole preliminary test the test item was solid. No melting point according to the criteria described in the guideline could be observed up to 400 °C.

Freezing point

The determination of the freezing point was performed by specific cooling devices using crystallisation tubes with outer protection tubes, stirrer and thermometer (reading precision 0.1°C)

The test item was cooled down to -37°C and the freezing point was determined at -10.4 °C. At the end of the experiment the test item was solid.
