Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets
Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data
First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Eyes: Irrigate with running water for at least ten minutes and
seek medical attention.
Emergency measure - Skin: Remove any contaminated clothing. Wash the affected area
with soap and water. If irritation develops seek medical
attention.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Wash out mouth with a small volume of water. Seek immediate
mediacl attention.
Fire-fighting measures
are suitable extinguishing agents.
Product arising from burning: When heated above 140 deg C, the substance decomposes
exothermically to give hydrogen bromide and nitrogen oxides.
Product determined by test: N
Protective equipment: A self-contained breathing apparatus is recommended when
extinguishing fires.
Accidental release measures
cloud. Place into labelled waste containers and dispose of
by incineration. Aqueous formulations should be absorbed
using a suitable carrier and disposed of by incineration.
Handling and storage
contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Avoid ingestion and
inhalation of the substance. If exposure to the substance
cannot be avoided wear rubber or PVC gloves (to BS 1651),
goggles (to BS 2092 type D), a dust respirator (BS 2091 type
B) and suitable protective clothing.
Storage: Store in a cool dry area below 25 deg C away from oxidising
materials, sources of ignition, and food, drink or animal
feeding stuffs. Do not store in metal containers, avoid
contact with all metals. The substance will be supplied in
high density polyethylene drums.

Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: The hazardous properties of the substance may be neutralised
by treatment with an alkaline solution or a reducing agent
eg sodium bisulphite; the notifier should be consulted for
details.
Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Disposal at an approved landill site, in accordance with
national regulations, is possible.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Disposal by incineration at an approved facility equipped
with waste gas treatment to remove hydrogen bromide and
nitrogen is possible.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended.
Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance itself will not enter the public domain.
