- A sub-sample (250 ml) of the test solution was measured into a separating funnel and extracted with dichloromethane (2 x 75 ml). The extracts were filtered through anhydrous sodium sulphate and combined in a round bottomed flask. The solvent was evaporated under vacuum just to dryness (RFE at 35 °C) and the residue dissolved in an appropriate volume of carbon tetrachloride (4-30 ml).
