- Details on preparation and application of test substrate:
- For the preparation of the test substrate 740 g basic substrate for each replicate were filled into a stainless steel vessel. Each replicate for each concentration was mixed separately. Calculations of the soil concentrations of the test substance were based on 100% purity of the test material.
To obtain fresh stock mixture for the test, the test substance was weighed out to a precision of 0.1 mg and mixed in industrial sand. 10 g stock mixture were added to the basic substrate in the mixing vessel and mixed thoroughly with a rapid mixer (740 g basic substrate + 10 g stock mixture = 750 g test substrate). - Test organisms (species):

- Source and breeding: The test organisms were bred in the animal maintenance room of the Ecobiology of AgrEvo in plastic boxes in a mixture of 4 parts sphagnum peat (Neuhaus Düngetorf, grade H2-H8, Torfwerke Neuhaus GmbH, Saterland, Germany), 4 parts dried and pulverised cow manure (Tierhaltung, H813, Hoechst AG, Germany), and 1 part of straw (animal holding facility of Hoechst AG, Germany) in accordance with the OECD guidelines. The approximate values of internal dimensions of the boxes are 440 mm long x 220 mm wide x 210 mm high. About 300 worms are cultured per box. The relative air-humidity in the room was approximately 50%. The breeding temperature was 20 ± 2 °C. The room was illuminated by wide spectrum fluorescent tubes during a 16 h daylight photoperiod. The moisture content in the breeding boxes was kept between 70 and 80%. Twice monthly pH, temperature and moisture content were determined from every culturing box. If necessary, the breeding substrate was moistened with deionised water. The substrate was renewed quarterly.

The toxicity towards soil organisms was investigated in a 14-day artificial soil test with the earthworm Eisenia fetida following OECD guideline 207. The 14 d LC 50 was > 1000 mg/kg soil dry weight. The NOEC of the test substance to the weight of earthworms (Eisenia fetida) was found to be 560 mg/kg soil dry weight.
