Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 105 (Water Solubility)
Version / remarks:
1995
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.6 (Water Solubility)
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
flask method
Water solubility:
> 2 222.8 g/L
Conc. based on:
test mat.
Incubation duration:
ca. 5 min
Temp.:
22 °C
Remarks on result:
other: pH not determined
Details on results:
The first preliminary test at room temperature showed, that the water solubility of the test item was above 1001.9 g/L. The observations of the preliminary test are summarized in Table 1.

With a solubility of the test item in water at room temperature of > 10 mg/L, the flask method has to be performed.
Due to the high water solubility of the test item further tests in a simplified flask method were performed. The results of these tests are shown in Table 2.

From these preliminary tests, the water solubility of the test item can be estimated to be >2222.8 g/L.

Table 1: Preliminary test for the water solubility

Amount of test item [mg]  Added volume of water [mL] Ultrasonic bath [min]   Remark
 500.96  0.5  5  dissolved

Table 2: Preliminary test for the possibility of stirring

Total amount of added test item [g]  Volume of water [mL]  Remark
 45.7  25

dissolved, stirring possible

 51.1  25  dissolved, stirring possible
 52.9  25   dissolved, stirring possible
 54.6  25   dissolved, stirring possible
55.6  25  dissolved, very viscous (jellylike), stirring not possible anymore
Conclusions:
The water solubility at 22 °C of the test item could be estimated from a simplified flask method to be > 2222.8 g/L.
Executive summary:

According to OECD Test Guideline 105 (1995) and Regulation EC No. 440/2008 Method A.6 the water solubility at 22 °C of the test item could be estimated from a simplified flask method to be > 2222.8 g/L. The study was conducted in accordance with GLP.

Description of key information

According to OECD Test Guideline 105 (1995) and Regulation EC No. 440/2008 Method A.6 the water solubility at 22 °C of the test item could be estimated from a simplified flask method to be > 2222.8 g/L. The study was conducted in accordance with GLP.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
2 222.8 g/L
at the temperature of:
22 °C

Additional information

The water solubility is higher than the stated value for CSA. At this value stirring of the solution was not possible anymore.
