According to the Regulation (EC) NO. 1907/2006, Annex XI, 1.5, A read-across category was performed in order to provide informations on ethyl decanoate CAS 110-38-3.
This category was based on common and shared properties as:
- common functional group,
- common precursors and the likelihood of common impurities resulting from common process of manufacturing,
- chemically structurally similar breakdown products obtained via the same biological processes into the organisms, and
- constant pattern in the changing of the potency of the properties across the category.
One study was available to assess the toxicity of Isopropyl myristate to microorganisms. The EC50 on the growth of Pseudomonas putida was derived as greater than 10 mg/L (nominal) after 18 hours of exposure. Moreover the ready biodegradability observed for the category members also demonstrates that these substances showed no adverse effects to micro-organisms.

Isopropyl myristate CAS 110 -27 -0
In the key study, the acute toxicity of Isopropyl myristate to Pseudomonas putida was tested according to a national guideline (DIN 38412 -8) and GLP. Nominal test substance concentrations ranged from 0.004 to 18 mg/L. After an incubation time of 18 hours, no real toxicity threshold could be determined, since all the measured extinction values were very close to the reference. An EC50(18h) > 10 mg/L was stated.
Moreover the ready biodegradability observed for the category members also demonstrates that these substances showed no adverse effects to micro-organisms.
