Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
19 April 2016 to 19 April 2016
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
Deviations:
no

yes (incl. QA statement)
Specific details on test material used for the study:
SOURCE OF TEST MATERIAL
- Source: Provided by sponsor
- Batch/Lot Number: 150701
- Expiration date of the lot/batch: 14 July 2017

STABILITY AND STORAGE CONDITIONS OF TEST MATERIAL
- Storage condition of test material: Controlled Room Temperature (15-25˚C), protected from humidity, under inert gas
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period
Remarks on result:
no ignition on contact with air (not further specified)

The test material did not ignite during the preliminary test; therefore the substance is considered not to be flammable. This conclusion is based on the results of the preliminary test as performing the main test was deemed unnecessary.

Interpretation of results:
not classified based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
Under the conditions of the study, the test material did not ignite in either case during the preliminary test, therefore the substance is considered not to be readily combustible.
Executive summary:

The flammability of the test material was investigated in accordance with the standardised guideline EU Method A.10 under GLP conditions.

In a preliminary test, the test material was filled into a mould, then the mould was dropped three times from a height of 2 cm onto a solid surface and the mould was filled up again. The lateral limitations were removed and the excess material scraped off. A non-combustible and non-porous plate was placed on top of the mould, inverted and the mould removed. The flame from a gas burner was applied to one end of the powder train. The test was carried out in duplicate. The test material did not ignite in the preliminary test, therefore no further testing was required.

Under the conditions of the study, the substance is considered not to be readily combustible.

Additional information

The flammability of the test material was investigated in accordance with the standardised guideline EU Method A.10 under GLP conditions. The study was assigned a reliability score of 1 in accordance with the criteria for assessing data quality set forth by Klimisch et al. (1997).

In a preliminary test, the test material was filled into a mould, then the mould was dropped three times from a height of 2 cm onto a solid surface and the mould was filled up again. Under the conditions of the study, the substance is considered not to be readily combustible.

Justification for classification or non-classification

In accordance with the criteria for classification as defined in Annex I, Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, the substance does not require classification with respect to flammability.
