CLINICAL SIGNS OF INTOXICATION CAUSED BY ALKYL DERIV OF
PYRIDINE INCL WT LOSS, DIARRHEA, WEAKNESS, ATAXIA & UNCONSCIOUSNESS.
/PICOLINES/
POISONING IN 32 YR OLD MALE INDUST EXPOSED TO VAPORS WAS CHARACTERIZED
BY AUTONOMIC DISTURBANCES AGAINST ASTHENIC BACKGROUND (ANGIODYSTONIA,
TENDENCY TOWARD HYPOTONIA & BRADYCARDIA, INCR OF PILOMOTOR REFLEX, &
DISTURBANCES OF THERMOREGULATION) & BY POLYNEURITIC PHENOMENA.
A 58 YR OLD MAN OCCUPATIONALLY EXPOSED TO BETA-PICOLINE FOR 11 YR SHOWED
AN INCR IN LIVER GLUTAMIC PYRUVIC TRANSAMINASE & GLUTAMIC OXALACETIC
TRANSAMINASE.
Exposures to the picolines may give rise to flushing of the face, skin
rash, an increase in heart and respiration rates, headache, giddiness,
nausea and vomiting. /Picolines/
ALKYL DERIVATIVES, PICOLINES ... CAUSE SYMPTOMS RESEMBLING THOSE
OBSERVED WITH PYRIDINE. THESE ARE LARGELY NONSPECIFIC & INCL WEAKNESS,
ATAXIA, DIARRHEA, & UNCONSCIOUSNESS. DELAYED DEATHS FOLLOWING SINGLE
DOSE ARE UNCOMMON & SURVIVORS GENERALLY GAIN WT NORMALLY. /PICOLINES/
