Endpoint:
water solubility
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
From 22 December 2015 to 12 December 2016
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study with acceptable restrictions
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 105 (Water Solubility)
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
The maximum deviation of the mean concentrations in the tests samples was >15%. Due to the high volatiliy of the test item and despite all the precautions taken, it was not possible to avoid evaporation of the test item and so reduce the maximum deviation
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.6 (Water Solubility)
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
The maximum deviation of the mean concentrations in the tests samples was >15%. Due to the high volatiliy of the test item and despite all the precautions taken, it was not possible to avoid evaporation of the test item and so reduce the maximum deviation
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
other: slow stirring flask method
Key result
Water solubility:
0.214 g/L
Incubation duration:
24 h
Temp.:
20.1 °C
pH:

Key result
Water solubility:

Preliminary test:

The content of test item dissolved in the water sample was 0.0483 g/L. Based on this results and the high volatility of the test item, the slow stirring flask method have been used in the main test.

Main study:

The results for the sample taken after 24, 48 and 72 hours at 20.1 +/-0.3°C are given in the table below:

Stirring time Replicate Analysed concentration Mean Mean1 MD2 pH
    [g/L]
[hours]     [g/L] [g/L] [%]
24 A 0.303 0.214 0.139 103 5.1
B 0.117
C 0.221
48 A 0.148 0.0681 6.4
B 0.0221
C 0.0344
72 A 0.0913 0.136 6.6
B 0.260
C 0.0563

The maximum difference (MD) of the mean concentrations determined in the tests samples was higher than 15%, regardless of the preparation of the samples with special precaution in order to avoid as much as possible the evaporation of the test item. However due to the high volatility, the water solubility of the test item is given as en estimated value based on the mean of all the concentration.

No test item was detected in the pretreated sample from the blank water mixture.

Conclusions:
The slow-stirring flash method was applied for the determination of the test item .
The water solubility at 20°C was estimated to be 0.139 g/L.
The pH of the aqueous samples was 5.1 to 6.6
Executive summary:

The water solubility of the test item was determined with slow stirring flask method according to recognized guidelines (OECD Guideline 105,EU Method A.6 and EPA OPPTS 830.7840) and GLP.

A deviation from the guideline was observed during the study. The maximum deviation of the mean concentrations in the tests samples was >15%. Due to the high volatiliy of the test item and despite all the precautions taken, it was not possible to avoid evaporation of the test item and so reduce the maximum deviation

The water solubility at 20°C was estimated to be 0.139 g/L.

The pH of the aqueous samples was 5.1 to 6.6

Description of key information

The water solubility of the test item was determined with slow stirring flask method according to recognized guidelines (OECD Guideline 105,EU Method A.6 and EPA OPPTS 830.7840) and GLP.

A deviation from the guideline was observed during the study. The maximum deviation of the mean concentrations in the tests samples was >15%. Due to the high volatiliy of the test item and despite all the precautions taken, it was not possible to avoid evaporation of the test item and so reduce the maximum deviation
