Description of key information

One key study is available for each of the following endpoints with n-butyl-4,4 -bis(tert-butylperoxy)valerate:

Short term Toxicity to Fish

Under the test conditions, no effects on fish has been observed at the maximum achievable solubility of n-butyl-4,4 -bis(tert-butylperoxy)valerate in test medium according to OECD 203 guideline.

Short term Toxicity to aquatic invertebrates

N-butyl-4,4 -bis(tert-butylperoxy)valerate in isododecane at its maximum achievable solubility in test medium did not lead to immobilization of Daphnia magna in a 48 -hour static test according to OECD guideline 202.

Toxicity to aquatic algae

72h-EC10and 72h-EC50 for freshwater algae were determined to be 160.5 µg/L and 421.5 µg/L, respectively according to OECD 201 guideline.

Toxicity to microorganisms

No inhibition of respiration rate of non-adapted activated sludge was observed at 20 mg/L of n-butyl-4,4 -bis(tert-butylperoxy)valerate according to OECD 209 guideline.

As a conclusion, among the three trophic levels (algae, crustacean and fish), toxic effects have only been observed on algae.
