Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets
Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

PBT assessment
Administrative data
PBT assessment: overall result
- PBT status:
- the substance is not PBT / vPvB
- Justification:
PERSISTENCY (P) :
DUPICAL is neither Readily nor Inherently biodegradable. The test item is an Aldehyde and is expected to oxidise rapidly to the corresponding Carboxylic Acid metabolite in sewage treatment plants and in the environment (aqueous, terrestrial and atmospheric compartments). The subsequent logPow of the Carboxylic Acid metabolite of DUPICAL is expected to be significantly lower than that of the Parent, as is the predicted aquatic toxicity.
DUPICAL is NOT P / vP.
BIOACCUMULATION (B) :
The logPow of DUPICAL is 4.0 (determined experimentally by OECD 117 test guideline) and is, thus, below the screening criteria for potential bioaccumulating substances.
DUPICAL is considered to be NOT B / vB.
TOXICITY (T) :
An Algal Inhibition (OECD 201) and Acute Daphnia toxicity study (OECD 202) have been performed on DUPICAL.
The results derived from these studies were, as folows :
Algal Inhibition (OECD 201) :
Based on Growth Rate -
72hr ErC50 > 2.64 mg/L
72 hr ErC10 = 1.08 mg/L
72 hr NOErC = 0.397 mg/L
Based on Yield -
72hr EyC50 = 1.35 mg/L
72 hr EyC10 = 0.469 mg/L
72 hr NOEyC = 0.397 mg/L
Acute Daphnia (OECD 202) :
48 hr EC50 = 0.573 mg/L
48 hr EC0 = 0.407 mg/L
Based on the experimentally determined results available for the aquatic toxicity of DUPICAL, the test item is NOT T.
DUPICAL is not considered to be P B T or vP vB.
