Description of key information

LLNA (key study): Skin sensitisation was studied using Local Lymph Node Assay (LLNA) carried for the target substance. In this study the test substance was not shown to have sensitisation potential.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:

The skin sensitisation potential of the target substance was assessed using a Local Lymph Node Assay (LLNA) (OECD 429) (Kochan, J., 2016).

The test substance was applied over three consecutive days at three concentrations. Lymph node weights were measured and DPM values were calculated in all treated groups. The changes were not dose dependent. The SI values for the three treated groups were 0.96 (25%), 1.07 (50%) and 0.98 (100%).

No signs of local irritation or systemic toxicity were observed during the study.

In this study the EC3 value could not be calculated for this substance, as all measured points were below the Stimulation Index of three. As the SI for all treatment dose groups is < 3, the test item is regarded as a non-sensitizer.

This study was regarded reliable without restrictions and the result of this study is used as a key value for hazard assessment and classification and labelling.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Magnesium fluoride is not classified for skin sensitisation according to the CLP Regulation No. 1272/2008.
