Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information
Additional information
The substance considered in the present dossier is manufactured as a 15% solution of dtBHP in n-heptane.
Only melting point was tested on the parent multi-constituent substance. Other physico-chemical properties presented below are derived from data on the constituents.
Boiling, volatility, flammability and viscosity are expected to be driven by the solvent.
Hence the solution is similarly classified liquid as a flammable liquid, with aspiration hazard (see also Section 7).No other physico-chemical hazards are anticipated, based on CLP criteria. However, incompatible substances may lead to release of dangerous decomposition products.
Summary of relevant physico-chemical properties:
Endpoint |
Data |
Appearance |
Clear colourless liquid. |
Freezing point |
< -20°C |
Boiling point |
Initial b.p. expected >= 90°C (extrapolated from solvent). |
Vapour pressure |
The solvant is significantly more volatile (ca 6 kPa) than the active substance (< 1 Pa anticipated). |
Flammability |
Flammable Liquid cat.2 Flash Point expected ca -4°C (extrapolated from solvent). No flammable properties expected if contact with air or water (based on chemical structure and experience). |
Explosive properties |
Explosive properties are not anticipated, based on chemical structure of both components. |
Oxidising properties |
No oxidising properties anticipated. (from use of analogues as a flame retardant and chemical structure of solvent) |
Viscosity | Viscosity expected << 20.5 mm2/s at 40°C (as solution in heptane, extrapolated from solvent). |
Other hazards | Contact with strong reducing or oxidising agents may release flammable and toxic products (phosphine, phosphorus oxides). |
