Description of key information

Fish

- four species of freshwater fish for short-term toxicity: no mortality within 96 h (LC0 >= 680 mg/l)

- one seawater fish (pinfish) for short-term toxicity: no mortality within 96 h (LC0 >= 780 mg/l)

- one freshwater fish (fathead minnow) for long-term toxicity: no adverse effect on hatchability of eggs and survival, mean total length, and average weight of fry at 30 days post hatch; NOEC >= 86.7 mg/l

- no marine fish for long-term toxicity

Aquatic invertebrates

- one EC50 value regarding daphnia immobilisation (short-term): EC50 (24 h, mobility): 2,808 mg/l

- three results on short-term toxicity in the marine species eastern oysters (growth), pink shrimp and penaeus duorarum (mortality): EC0/LC0 (96 h): >= 780 mg/l

- results on daphnia magna and C. elegans on long-term toxicity; lowest assessed NOEC (survival, growth, reproduction) for daphnia magna: c. 130.8 mg/l

- no marine water species tested for long-term toxicity

Algae

- several freshwater algae species tested: most sensitive effects (without effects due to the reactions of zeolite with nutrients essential for algal growth) were seen against the green alga Scenedesmus subspicatus (EC10 > 100 mg/l)

- no marine algae tested

Microorganisms

- one study in microorganisms: EC50 (bacterial growth in neutralized samples): 0.95 g
