Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

TBPPI decomposes before boiling. Self-Accelerating Decomposition Temperature (SADT) of TBPPI is 25 °C (reference SADT: CLP regulations 2.15.2.3 and UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria, 5th revised edition, sub-sections 28.1, 28.2, 28.3 and Table 28.3).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The SADT (self accelerating decomposition temperature) of the test substance tert.-Butylperoxypivalat (TBPPI) 75 % in isododecane was examined in a study, performed according to the "UN - Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods - manual of Tests and Criteria" UN - TEST: H.4. Measurements were done with Dewar vessel without coating while the water bath temperature was kept constantly at 20 °C / 25 °C. Under the test conditions the decomposition temperature of the test substance was determined to be 25 °C. Thus, the boiling point could not be measured as decomposition occurs before boiling point is reached.
