Description of key information
There is an OECD guideline 404 and an OECD guideline 405 GLP compliant study with rabbits on 3,5,5-trimethylhexanal on acute oral and dermal toxicity available in a disseminated Dossier on the ECHA website for a full registration. The substance was irritating to the skin and slightly irritating to the eye. This is supported by results obtained with the structural analogue ethylhexanal (BASF 1964) in BASF tests on eye and skin irritation. Therefore, the substance was classified for skin irritant cat. 2 and not classified for eye irritation under Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP)
