Additional information

Biodegradation of Triclosan in water and sediment was tested in a guideline study following OECD 308. The test was conducted under aerobic conditions with a mixed population from water and sediment as inoculum. Degradation of Triclosan was monitored for 104 days. The substance deposited rapidly in the sediment. In the sediment the substance was continously degraded resulting in a degradation rate of 78.2 - 78.6 % after 104 days.
