Stability

A study was performed to determine the rate of hydrolysis as a function of pH, according to OECD Guideline 111. Half-life times of greater than 1 year at 25°C were obtained at pH 4, 7 and 9.

Biodegradation

In a test carried out in accordance with OECD Guideline 301 F (Ready Biodegradability: Manometric Respirometry Test), the test substance showed 5% degradation in 28 days and therefore cannot be considered readily biodegradable.

Bioaccumulation

A study performed in accordance with Law Concerning the Examination and Regulation of Manufacture, etc., of Chemical Substances (Japan 1973 Law. No. 117) showed the substance has a very low bioconcentration factor and therefore has little or no propensity to bioaccumulate.

Transport and distribution

The substance has a very low octanol water partition coefficient and correspondingly low BCF. The substance has low potential for adsorption and therefore to therefore a study to determine the adsorption/desorption in soil and sediment is not required.

Overall conclusion

The substance is highly soluble in water and does not undergo abiotic degradation or biodegradation in this medium. Although the substance may persist in the aquatic environment, it has very low potential to bioaccumulate (negative log Pow ) and is not classified as hazardous to the environment. It is therefore of overall low environmental concern.
