Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information
EYE IRRITATION
A dose of 0.1 mL of DEGDN was applied to the eyes of New Zealand white rabbits. Slight iridal vasodilatation and slight conjuctival redness were observed beginning 1-4 hr after dosing but resolving by 24 hr. DEGDN was rated as nonirritating to the eyes.
SKIN IRRITATION
A dose of 0.5 mL DEGDN was applied to the clipped backs of New Zealand rabbits. After a 4-h exposure, material was removed and the sites scored for irritation by the method of Draize. All animals showed a negative response during the 72-h observation period. DEGDN was classified as nonirritating to skin.¨
ACUTE DERMAL TOXICITY (supporting information)
Neat Diethyleneglycol dinitrate(2 g/kg) was applied occluded to the clipped backs of male and female New Zealand rabbits for 24hr followed by a 14 day observation period. Slight erythema was initially observed and persisted for 1- 3 days.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
Skin irritation / corrosion
Endpoint conclusion
- Endpoint conclusion:
- no adverse effect observed (not irritating)
Eye irritation
Endpoint conclusion
- Endpoint conclusion:
- no adverse effect observed (not irritating)
Additional information
Slight reactions (vasodilation and conjuctival redness) were observed at beginning of Eye irritation study. These reactions were resolved by 24 hr.
No reactions were observed during Skin irritation study.
Supporting information: Slight reaction was observed during Dermal toxicity study. The reaction was resolved by 1-3 days.
Justification for classification or non-classification
DEGDN is classified as non-irritating to the eyes and to the skin based on results of experimental studies.
