Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In a reliability 2 publication, an EC50 72h in freshwater algae of 107 mg/L was found, without report of pH during the test. The EC10 in the same test was 90.6 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
107 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
91 mg/L

Additional information

The ecotoxicity of acetylsalicylic acid has been evaluated using a growth test in freshwater algae Desmodesmus subspicatus according to OECD GL 201. The EC50r 72h in algae was 106.7 mg/L and EC10 of 90.6 mg/L. No pH measurements data are available, nor neutralization procedure is described. Therefore the toxicity is probably due to both acidic effect and substance toxicity itself.
