Description of key information

In aqueous solution, sodium caprolactamate hydolyses spontaneously with the formation of sodium hydroxide and epsilon-Caprolactam.

Additional information

In aqueous solution, sodium caprolactamate hydolyses spontaneously with the formation of sodium hydroxide and epsilon-Caprolactam.

Sodium hydroxide is stable, while epsilon-Caprolactam will be photodegraded rapidly by reactions with OH radicals in the atmosphere (calculated half-life for a 24-hour day and 5.0*105OH/cm³: 21 hours). Hydrolysis in water is not expected to to be an important fate process.
