Additional information

In Annex IX column 2 of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 it is laid down that the study does not need to be conducted if the substance has a low potential for bioaccumulation (for instance a log Kow < 3) and/or a low potential to cross biological membranes.

The present substance has an experimentally derived log Kow of - 0.1 which is clearly below 3. Furthermore, in contact with water the compound dissociates and under environmental conditions (pH 4 to 9) the resulting organic fragments are negatively charged which further limits the uptake across biological membranes. Due to these characteristics an uptake of the present compound is not expected.

This assumption was confirmed by the results of a valid experimental study (Gakushuin University, Japan, 1980) which revealed BCF values <= 20.6 in the higher concentration group (3 mg/L) and <= 52.3 mg/L in the lower concentration group (0.3 mg/L). The study was conducted with common carp in accordance with OECD test guideline 305.

In summary, the present compound does not significantly accumulate in organisms.
