Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Based on the chemical structure and experimental data on the substance itself and analogue structure, systemic uptake, but not bioaccumulation is expected.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Bioaccumulation potential:
no bioaccumulation potential

Additional information

The substance is a mixture of rosin-derived acids for which the conjugated double bond pairs have been mostly transformed to either aromatic rings or isolated double bonds, plus also insertion of a methyl substituent in some components via reaction with formaldehyde, with the subsequent whole then being transformed into the calcium salt by reaction of the carboxylic acid.

Dissociated carboxylic acids can be conjugated by phase II metabolism for better elimination. The UVCB mixture is of good solubility in octanol and of moderate solubilty in water (ca 150 mg/L). Systemic uptake is expected, but sufficient target structures for metabolism are available to exclude a potential for bioaccumulation. Structures of components are shown at the end of the chemical safety report, as part of the supporting data for read-across.
