Description of key information

According to the test made by DEFITRACES according to A10 (GPL study) the test item Dipentamethylene thiurame hexasulphide was not considered as highly flammable under our experimental conditions.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

The test item was formed into an unbroken strip or powder train, approximately 250-mm long, 20-mm wide and 10-mm high on a non-combustible, non-porous and low heat-conducting base plate. A hot flame from a gas burner (minimum diameter 5 mm) was applied to one end of the powder train until ignition or for a maximum of 2 min. It was noted whether combustion propagates along 200 mm of the train within the 4-min test period:

The test item melted. No propagation was observed.

The solid is considered as highly flammable when the time of burning in one assay is less than 45 s for non-metallic or non metal-alloy test items
