Details on sampling:
- Geographic coordinates: Lake Ontario

- Known emission sources near sampling site: Lake Ontario is the furthest downstream lake in the chain of Laurentian Great Lakes; it is impacted by human activities occurring throughout the basin of Lakes Superior, Michigan, Huron and Erie.

- Period of sampling: 2013-08-26 to 2012-11-21

- Sampling: Surface sediments were collected from 5 locations (two within Lake Ontario and three within Hamilton Harbor) using a stainless steel box corer. Round goby (Neogobius melanostomus), rainbow smelt (Osmerus mordax), alewife (Alosa pseudoharengus), and mysid shrimp (Mysis relicta) were collected using a bottom trawl. Lake trout (Salvelinus namaycush) were collected using gill nets

- Sample storage before analysis: Sediment samples were stored at 4°C in the dark. Biota samples were stored at approximately -20ºC in the dark

- Other: Personnel were prohibited from using personal care products known to contain siloxane materials on days of sample collection.
