Based on read across with EDTA-FeNa, EDTA-Fe(OH)K2 is not expected to be sensitizing in the LLNA. This finding is supported by a GPMT with EDTA-FeNa which was also negative.

EDTA-FeNa is not sensitizing in the LLNA; therefore no sensitisation is expected for EDTA-Fe(OH)K2. Structural analogues like EDTA-MnNa2, EDTA-CuNa2 and DTPA-FeHNa have not shown any skin sensitisation potential, i.e. read-across from supporting substance (structural analogue or surrogate). In addition, EDTA-FeK is not irritating to the skin and because of its structure, EDTA-FeK is expected to have low skin penetration (see read across document in section 13); this is also expected for EDTA-Fe(OH)K2.
Justification for selection of skin sensitisation endpoint:
Key study with EDTA-FeNa did not show sensitisation (see also read across document in section 13).

Because EDTA-FeK is not considered to be a skin sensitiser it is not expected that it would be a respiratory sensitiser as all respiratory sensitisers tested have shown skin sensitising properties in skin sensitisation tests.
Justification for classification or non-classification
Key study with read across test substance EDTA-FeNa did not show signs of sensitisation. Therefore classification for skin sensitization is not warranted.
