Description of key information
Appearance:
Based on available data from authoritative database,the chemical Ammonium molybdate was observed to be an iodourless norganic colourless to yellowish coloured crystalline powder in appearance.
Melting point:
Based on available data from various reliable souces such as review articles,the chemical Ammonium molybdate was observed to be completely decomposed at the temperature of 190 degree C without melting.
Boiling point:
The study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a solid which decomposes before boiling.
Density:
Based on available data from various reliable sources such as handbooks and review article,the density of chemical Ammonium molybdate was determined to be 1.4 g/cm3 at 20 degree C.
Particle size distribution:
The particle size distribution of Ammonium molybdate was determined by granulometric analysis with rotap sieve shaker. The particle size distribution was determined to be in the range of 150 micron to 53 micron.
Vapour pressure:
The substance Ammonium molybdate is a solid at room temperature and decomposes before boiling. Hence, the endpoint was considered for waiver.
Partition coefficient
In accordance with column 2 of Annex VII of the REACH regulation, testing for this end point is technically not feasible and does not need to be conducted since the test chemical Ammonium molybdateis inorganic.
Water solubility:
Based on available data from authoritative database,the water solubility of chemical Ammonium molybdate was determined to be >10000 mg/L at 20 degree C.
Above value indicates that the chemical Ammonium molybdate is very soluble in water.
Surface tension:
The study does not need to be conducted because surface activity is not a desired property of the material
Flash point:
The study does not need to be conducted because the substance is inorganic.
Auto flammability:
Ammonium molybdate did not catch fire on being exposed to air at room temperature of 27°Cpressure of 966 hPa. This indicates that Ammonium molybdate is not auto-flammable.
Flammability:
Ammonium molybdate does not indicate any ignition when the flame of bunsen burner having temperature of approximately 950°C is brought in contact with it. Thus it can be concluded that Ammonium molybdate is not flammable at high temperature. However since such high temperatures are not found under normal circumstances of transportation and use, thus Ammonium molybdate was considered non-flammable for chemical safety assessment.
