Description of key information
The acute toxicity of the test item to Daphnia magna was tested according to the OECD guideline 202 and GLP.
The study was conducted under semi-static conditions. 20 daphnies were exposed over a period of 48 hours with 5 concentrations in the range of 0.625 to 10 mg/L of test item. The concentrations of the test item were verified by LC-MS/MS at the start of the exposure (0 and 24 h) and at the end of each exposure interval (24 and 48h) in all concentrations and the control. The measured concentrations were within 99 to 103% of the nominal concentrations at the start of the exposure. At the end of the exposure intervals (24h and 48h), the measured concentrations were in the range of 91 to 104% of the nominal values.
The water quality parameter (pH, oxygen) and temperature measured at the start and at the end of exposure were within the acceptable limits. The validity criteria of the guidelines were fulfilled.
The NOEC of the test item after 48 hours of exposure was 1.25 mg/L. 100% of immobilisation of daphnids was observed at the concentrations ≥ 5 mg/L. The EC50 on Daphnia magna after 48 h of exposure to the test item under semi-static conditions was calculated to be 3.04 mg/l (95% confidence interval : 2.66 - 3.49).
