The acute toxicity of Methoxyacetic acid to aquatic invertebrates was studied in a static test. The EC50 value for Daphnia magna was 68.3 mg/l in a 48h test. In this test the substance concentration was analytically monitored and results based on nominal concentration.

The toxicity of Methoxyacetic acid was investigated in the unicellar green algal species Desmodesmus subspicatus. The 72 h measured ErC50 was 66.2 mg/l.

Further on, acute aquatic toxicity data of Methoxyacetic acid to fish are available. In the most reliable study the 96 -hour LC50 was >500 mg/L under static conditions with Brachydanio rerio with analytical monitoring. In another 96-h acute toxicity study, Leuciscus idus melanotus were exposed to Methoxyacetic acid under static conditions. The 96-h LC50 was >100 and <215 mg test substance/L.
